DEVELOPMENT OF PASIR PUTIH MARINE TOURISM AREA AT BIRA BEACH, BULUKUMBA REGENCY, SOUTH SULAWESI
Abstract
Bulukumba Regency of South Sulawesi is famous for its diversity of tourism and history, especially in coastal and marine tourism. For example, the phinisi boat-making area in Tanah Lemo South Sulawesi district, which UNESCO made an intangible world heritage in 2017. Currently, the Bira beach area conditions are still not utilized optimally. There are various problems, such as the low quality of the area's environment and an unavailable supporting facility. The method used in the design begins with literature studies, field surveys to obtain complete data, and data analysis. The analysis results will be used to create concepts applied to the design process. The theme of this design is sustainable tourism, which can be seen from various aspects, such as increasing active and passive green open space, designing sanitation and clean water management, and organizing waste management. The result of the marine tourism area design can accommodate recreational activities for tourists. Pasir Putih is expected to be superior tourism by improving the quality of the marine tourism environment on the Bira coast, advancing the economy of the indigenous peoples of Bira, and being a model for coastal areas in other provinces with the same problems.
