GAME-BASED DEVELOPMENT OF THE KOMODO MUSEUM TMII FOR ENDEMIC FAUNA CONSERVATION EDUCATION
Abstract
This study aims to develop the Komodo Museum at TMII as an educational medium for the conservation of endemic fauna through interactive, game-based experiences. The declining interest of younger generations in traditional museums highlights the need for innovation using technologies such as gamification and Virtual Reality (VR). A qualitative approach was used, involving observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that educational games can enhance visitor engagement, learning experiences, and awareness of wildlife conservation. The proposed design features thematic rooms that include virtual ecosystems, interactive mini-games, quizzes, AI-based virtual guides, and a digital reward system. These features are tailored to digital-native characteristics, offering an immersive and enjoyable learning environment. The study concludes that integrating educational content and technology through game-based museum experiences is an effective strategy for attracting young visitors and strengthening the museum’s role as a platform for conservation and lifelong learning.
