Purpose: This study aims to examine the effects of industry type, the COVID-19 pandemic, firm size, asset turnover, and supply chain resilience on financial performance and market performance of consumer goods companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2018–2023 period.
Methodology: This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from the financial statements of consumer goods companies listed on the IDX. The sample consists of 126 companies observations. Multiple regression analysis was used to test the impact of industry type, COVID-19 pandemic, firm size, asset turnover, and supply chain resilience on ROA and PBV.
Findings: The results indicate that industry type, firm size, and supply chain resilience significantly affect on ROA. In contrast, the COVID-19 pandemic and asset turnover do not significantly influence financial performance. Furthermore, none of the independent variables significantly affect on PBV. These findings suggest that internal company characteristics, particularly firm size and supply chain resilience, play an important role in maintaining profitability during periods of crisis.
Implication: The study highlights the importance of strengthening organizational resources and supply chain resilience to improve financial performance and business sustainability, especially during periods of economic uncertainty and external disruptions.
Originality: This study extends the literature by simultaneously examining the roles of industry characteristics, COVID-19 conditions, firm size, asset turnover, and supply chain resilience on both financial and market performance during and around the pandemic period.
