Abstract

Artikel ini membahas mengenai analisis framing pada berita Chinese Aid to African Countries pada media onlineThe Washington Post dan South China Morning Post. Penelitian ini menggunakan pisau analisis teori Konstruksi Sosial dengan menggunakan metode analisis framing Robert N. Entman. Penelitian ini mengasumsikan bahwa framing terdiri atas dua dimensi utama: pemilihan isu dan penekanan. Metode analisis kualitatif digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian, yaitu menelusuri perbedaan penyajian berita antara The Washington Post dan South China Morning Post dengan menggunakan model framing Robert N. Entman. Temuan dalam penelitian mengungkapkan perbedaan penting dalam penekanan ditempatkan pada isu-isu oleh dua media online. Secara khusus, pembingkaian berita The Washington Post mengaitkan bantuan Tiongkok cenderung lebih menekankan aspek politik dan ekonomi, penggunaan kata-kata dan pemilihan fakta tertentu mengarah pada pembentukan pandangan yang fokus pada pengaruh politik Tiongkok dan dampak ekonomi atas bantuan tersebut.  Sedangkan, pada media South China Morning Post cenderung lebih seimbang dalam menyajikan berbagai aspek yang terlibat dalam hubungan bantuan Tiongkok kepada negara-negara Afrika dan framing yang digunakan membentuk gambaran yang lebih luas dan positif tentang upaya kerjasama antara Tiongkok dan Afrika.
