ANALYSIS TOURISM AREA LIFE CYCLE OF THE MUSEUM NATIONAL TO IMPROVE CULTURAL TOURISM IN INDONESIA

Abstract

The National Museum of Indonesia has a noble vision, namely with the realization of the National Museum as a center of cultural information and tourism able to educate the nation’s life by increasing civilization and pride in national culture and strengthening unity and friendship between nations. The purpose of this research is to analyze the Tourism Area Life Cycle at the National Museum in an effort to increase cultural tourism in Indonesia. This research method uses descriptive qualitative research. The data used in this study are primary data through direct observation to the national museum and interviews with 3 (three) sources, namely the national museum manager, national museum guide and tourists, while for secondary data through literature and documentation studies. The results showed that the National Museum of Indonesia has experienced 6 (six) phases ranging from the exploration phase to the rejuvenation phase, the National Museum is currently in the rejuvenation phase which is characterized by planning new innovations involving the application of modern technology and innovative museum presentations. So it is concluded that the rejuvenation phase at the National Museum of Indonesia has attracted the interest of the younger generation with the transformation through the concept of reimagination that can increase Indonesian cultural tourism.
