TOURISTS’ POTENTIAL AND INTEREST IN PURA PESIRAMAN DESA AAN AS A DISTINCTIVE HEALING TOURISM DESTINATION

Healing tourism becomes new trend recently in global tourism industry. By combining the physical health improvement, spiritual enhancement, and mind refreshment, healing tourism provides a set of authentic experience. Bali as a world-wide known tourism destination has a potential to conduct healing tourism practice. Therefore, the current study aimed at identifying the potential of Bali as a healing tourism destination and the tourists’ interest to visit healing tourism destination. The current study took Pura Pesiraman Desa Aan as the pilot project of healing tourism destination and employed mixed method research. The data was collected through observation, interview, and questionnaire distribution, with 4 stakeholders and 103 tourists as participants. Both quantitative and qualitative data analysis were employed in analyzing the data. The result highlighted that Pura Pesiraman Desa Aan has a potential to become a distinctive healing tourism. The geographical contour supports the natural view aspect for mind refreshment. The facilities provided in the Pura Pesiraman Desa Aan could fulfill the need of spiritual enhancement The location of Pura Pesiraman Desa Aan which is located in the middle of ricefield, could enable the tourist to have trekking activity which support the physical health improvement. Moreover, the survey results unraveled that most of the participants have a strong interest to visit Pura Pesiraman Desa Aan and experienced the three combined activities. Therefore, it is suggested to the tourism stakeholders in Desa Aan to develop Pura Pesiraman Desa Aan as a distinctive healing tourism destination.
