THE EFFECTS OF EXPERIENCE QUALITY AND DISASTER RISK PERSPECTIVE ON PERSONALHAPPINESS IN DISASTER-PRONE DESTINATION

This study examines an integrated model of tourist behavior encompassing experience quality, disaster risk perception, and personal happiness in the context of visits to natural destinations located in disaster-prone areas. In light of geological threats, particularly the issue of a potential megathrust earthquake, understanding tourists’ psychological well-being has become increasingly important. This research aims to analyze the effects of experience quality and disaster risk perception on personal happiness in disaster-prone destinations. Data collected from 220 valid respondents who had previously visited Geyser Cisolok. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results indicate that experience quality has a positive and significant effect on personal happiness, whereas disaster risk perception has a significant negative effect on personal happiness. These findings suggest that tourist happiness in disaster-prone destinations is not only determined by the quality of their travel experience, but also by how disaster risks are perceived and managed. Therefore, destination management should integrate positive tourism experiences with informative and educational disaster mitigation strategies, without diminishing the recreational value of the experience.
