Abstract
Married couples who want children but have not yet will experience negative psychological effects. Due to external factors such as cultural expectations and family demands, they become vulnerable to stress, anxiety, unhappiness, and feelings of worthlessness. This situation necessitates resilience, defined as the ability to adapt to uncomfortable conditions. Individuals with high resilience can recover and try again after experiencing difficulties. One factor that enhances resilience is social support. This study examines the role of social support in resilience among married individuals who do not yet have children. The research involved 112 respondents aged 20-40 years, with a minimum marriage duration of 12 months, and no children. Two measurement tools were used: the Resilience Scale (Wagnild & Young, 1993) to measure resilience levels and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Zimet et al., 1988) to assess social support. The study employed a quantitative method with simple linear regression for data analysis. Results indicated a significant role of social support (R² = 0.375) in resilience among childless married individuals. This finding suggests that social support contributes 37.5% to the resilience of married individuals who do not have children.
