The Relationship between Empathy and Caregiver Burden among Family Caregiver of People with Schizophrenia (PWS)

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara empati dengan beban pengasuhan pada keluarga pengasuh Orang dengan Skizofrenia (ODS) di Komunitas Peduli Skizofrenia Indonesia (KPSI). Partisipan dalam penelitian ini merupakan anggota keluarga yang secara langsung merawat ODS selama minimal satu tahun, berusia antara 31–60 tahun, serta tergabung dalam komunitas. Sebanyak 103 partisipan diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Basic Empathy Scale – Adult (2013) untuk mengukur variabel empati, dan Zarit Burden Interview – Short Version (2001) untuk mengukur beban pengasuhan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis korelasi Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara empati afektif maupun empati kognitif dengan beban pengasuhan pada keluarga pengasuh ODS. Artinya, semakin tinggi empati afektif dan kognitif, maka beban pengasuhan yang dirasakan cenderung semakin tinggi. Temuan ini menyoroti bahwa empati tidak selalu memberikan dampak positif bagi pengasuh.
